And then you become a highly prized intelligence asset and later spy, just when you thought you were going to waste your brilliant mind and young life working as a leader of the Nerd Herd tech support desk at your local Buy More? Is it ringing any bells? Okay, how about how that time in every person's life when they fall in love with their spy handler and begin a super fraught will-they won't-they relationship?

Okay, so maybe Chuck had a slightly extraordinary life. But hey, in the end? He got the girl.

Age: 30
Occupation: Social Media Guy (tm) for some embarrassing brands.
Personality: Anna is goofy, loveable, and a total under-achiever. She's into family, films, good food, and gaming. She's not necessarily confident but she is brave -- she once ran into oncoming traffic to try to save a cat from getting hit by a car. The cat didn't say thank you but it does now live in Anna's studio apartment. It's kind of an asshole. Anna loves him. She's bright and a little self-absorbed and a little too preoccupied what people think about her, especially considering that she would rather maintain the fiction that she's sort of invisible at all times.
Background: Anna's brother is a kind of a golden child. He's slightly younger and has done everything right -- works as a lawyer, has three kids already (three!!!) and a cool husband. Anna would be annoyed by them if she didn't like them so much, but it definitely means that she has the slightest of, inferiority complexes. It doesn't help that her parents are always like, what do you MEAN social media is your job? At least they could be like, don't you know the media is crashing down around you and you'll probably be out of a job tomorrow? (sidebar: Anna has depression!) But hey, it's not all bad. She lives near the Phoenix Effect and they make great coffee -- she often works from there, has a favorite table that always seems to be free whenever she walks in -- and if nothing else, pop music is having a great year already, and she likes blasting it to sing along with when she's in the shower.

Buddy and Anna have been at the same nerd gatherings. They're not really friends but they've had plenty of debates over star trek canon, which is basically the same thing, when you get right down to it.

Hoo boy. Elspeth isn't sure she's ever been in love, but if she has, it was with Anna. The only remotely serious relationship Elspeth's ever had was one she straight up fled from. Feelings are scary, and expectations are scary, and Elspeth is not the brave little toaster. Most of the time she pretends it never happened--Anna who?--and most of the time it works. Except New Orleans isn't that big a city and sometimes you run into people and when Elspeth and Anna run into each other, things happen. Like they try to just be friends, because they like spending time together, and then FEELINGS. Or they sleep together, because the sex was always great and Elspeth has meaningless hook ups all the time so she can totally do this, right? No, because FEELINGS. Elspeth sometimes hates herself for running from this great thing that was, or could have been, even though Anna did the same thing and she could never hate Anna.
