I suck at not buying books. My impulse control is zero. I write about books for a living, so I get sent or have access to more books than I could ever read and yet I come home with piles of them anyway. Also I am incapable of viewing books as clutter, but I don't view that as a failing in the least.

I always support people joining me in my madness, but there is probably a valid argument to be made that people who don't own ridiculous numbers of books should exist to balance me out.

Binti: The Complete Trilogy by Nnedi Okorafor. It's a collection of the three Binti novellas, the third of which is up for a Hugo this year. It also has a new story in it, so of course I have to go buy it even though I've read the novellas already.

I suck at playing nice at fundraising events, especially with the uberwealthy. I know I have to because that's how we get money, but reminding myself of that fact usually pisses me off even more because I shouldn't have to suck up to people to convince them that women's safety and sanity is worth protecting.

Yeah. I have, on at least one occasion, found an unoccupied room and screamed into a pillow in the middle of an event. I used to go into the bathroom to vent and talk myself into doing what I have to, but I learned the hard way that that's risky in a multi-stall situation.

I'm an experienced one but not really a successful one; I usually only feel better for a few minutes before I'm back to chanting 'murder is bad' to myself.

Not doodling in the margins of official documents. People should not hand me important papers until they need me to immediately fill something in or sign it, and then they should take it again right away. Otherwise I make no promises.

Everything. Sometimes it's like middle school notebook flowers and hearts and starts and then there are the times I can get a whole landscape or portrait sketched before I realize I probably should probably save those for my sketchbooks.

I suck at remembering not to be sarcastic at groups of children because their brains literally don't know how to process it yet. "Sure, go play in traffic" is not something you're supposed to say to second graders, apparently. Nearly gave myself a heart attack that time.
